Asophisticated oceanfront hotel, The Legian Bali is located in the very heart of Seminyak, one of the island’s most popular tourist destinations and just 15 km from the international airport. With superb views over one of most famous stretches of beach in the world, the main complex of The Legian Bali features just 68 luxurious one- and two-bedroom sea-facing suites. There is also a super-private three-bedroom Beach House and the choice is extended further by The Club, a collection of 10 extremely private one-bedroom villas and one three-bedroom villa, located just a few metres from the main hotel lobby.
The contemporary design, by the late iconic architect Hendra Hadiprana, is a pleasing mixture of modern and traditional materials and features. The public spaces in particular show Balinese influences with stone, dark wood and the use of water. The Jaya Ibrahim interiors takes this tropical feel still further with a host of traditional paintings, furnishings and artworks set against light stone or painted walls with, in places, a near minimalist approach.
On arrival you enter the lobby by passing the first of the koi-filled water features and are graciously met and checked in before being escorted to your suite. If you have one of the butler-serviced suites then they will help unpack and explain the features in detail. A range of suites are available and all feature iPod docks, iPods, Bose sound systems, LED flatscreen TVs, Blu-Ray disc players and espresso machines, as well as bathrooms with deep-soak tubs, rain showers and spacious living areas. There are 14 Studio Suites, 36 one-bedroom Deluxe Suites, 14 two-bedroom Suites and one each of The Seminyak, The Sunset and The Legian suites, plus The Beach House and, of course, the 11 villas at The Club.
The 800 sq.m. three-bedroom Beach House (each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom) includes your own 16-metre infinity pool with a sunbathing deck and day beds. This unique villa is very private and boasts breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. With lush tropical landscape and delightful custom décor, both the Beach House and three-bedroom Club Villa offer guests the ultimate in luxury residences.
The largest suite, at a huge 364 sq.m., is The Legian. With two master bedrooms, plus a 100 sq.m. terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean, this opulent suite comes with a host of exclusive benefits including afternoon tea and two hours of sunset cocktails and canapés in your suite, at The Pool Bar, The Ocean Bar, or The Lobby Lounge. This wonderfully private suite is perfect for families or two couples seeking pure indulgence. At 110 sq.m. the one-bedroom Deluxe Suites offer a four-seat dining room and a patio with an outdoor dining table and day bed and can sleep up to three adults in absolute comfort.
The Restaurant at the Legian, helmed by Chef Luke MacLeod from his fabulous open kitchen, has seating inside or outdoors on the deck. Both areas overlook the infinity pools and ocean.
Chef Luke offers guests a mix of creative and beautifully presented French and Southeast Asian plates; the menu is substantial with the fish dishes we sampled being particularly delicious. The restaurant is where guests can also find an excellent breakfast served from 7AM.
The hotel has a range of fabulous amenities including a fitness centre with stationary bikes, free weights and treadmills. The beachside infinity pool complex is a magnet throughout the day and framed by The Pool and Ocean Bars, which serve a range of signature cocktails, afternoon tea and canapés like mud crab with watermelon or Vietnamese spring rolls. With sun loungers and decking, it’s a perfect place to relax, sunbathe or, better still, kick back with a sunset cocktail or two.
The hotel boasts a luxurious spa with four single treatment rooms and two dedicated to couples where guests can indulge in a range of expertly delivered Balinese and Ayurvedic massages, detoxifying body polishes and wraps, Voya facials and mani-pedis
It is, above all, a serene and relaxed place to take your vacation and is complemented by the outstanding hospitality one would expect from a LHM-managed hotel – a company dedicated to expanding The Legian name and offering an authentic, personalised service. Nothing seems too much for the staff at The Legian Bali and that, plus the fabulous ambience, facilities and location, is why guests return year after year to holiday at one of Seminyak’s best kept secrets.
