Following the success of the inaugural Ubud Food Festival in 2015, the highly anticipated gastronomic event returns this year with a lineup bigger and better than before. This year’s three-day event will focus on the diversity of the Indonesian archipelago and its bounty of culinary riches with a programme built around a “go local” concept. This means there’ll not only be local produce and fabulous regional cuisine to try, but also the best of local talent and cooking challenges for international chefs to work with Indonesia’s unique harvests.
What’s On?
To keep gastronomes, visitors and budding chefs on their toes, the festival will incorporate a number of different special events and culinary occasions each day. There will be foodie forums and debates, live cooking demos, hands-on workshops, master classes, book launches, food tours and one-off ticketed events held at some of Ubud’s finest restaurants. At the heart of the festival there will also be a market and a foodie hub where all attendees can roam, graze and indulge.
Celebrity Chef Spotting
Last year’s event garnered the attention of celebrity chefs around Asia and this year is set to be no different. Confirmed guest chefs include Eelke Plasmeijer and Ray Adriansyah from Ubud’s award-winning Locavore restaurant, Singapore’s Julien Royer from JAAN and Odette, Jakarta’s own Masterchef contestant Petty Elliott and Cuca’s ElBulli-trained chef Kevin Cherkas. Attracting the best of the best in the culinary world, expect to also see Streetfood Chef Will Meyrick, Teatro and BLANCO chef Mandif Warokka, Room4Dessert’s Will Goldfarb and many more….
