InterContinental Bali Resort has recently announced the appointment of Michael Koth as the new general manager of InterContinental Bali Resort & Director of Operations for AMEA Resorts Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. The latter means Michael is responsible for Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn Resorts and Holiday Inn Express throughout the aforementioned regions.
Michael’s career began when he was trained to be a chef in his hometown of Hamburg, Germany, and juggling two apprenticeships. His stellar achievements include winning the Young Chef of the Year of Germany in 1982. He moved to London, England to hone his English, and he had never looked back since as he travelled all around the world to tackle the hospitality industry. His repertoire includes resident manager for Regency InterContinental in Bahrain, director of operations and general manager for IHG hotels in Serbia, Berlin, Budapest, Doha and Cairo, among others. He was also named General Manger of The Year for Middle East by the World Luxury Hotel Awards.
