Bali’s serene neighbourhood of Ubud is buzzing with anticipation for the fourth Ubud Food Festival from 13th to 15th April. An impressive number of chefs, restaurateurs, farmers, social entrepreneurs and outstanding innovators will gather at the coveted event and share groundbreaking culinary insights and innovative flavours. Drawing inspiration from Indonesia’s young, tech-savvy population, this year’s Ubud Food Festival takes Generasi Inovasi (The Innovation Generation) as its main theme.
Filled with interesting programmes and sessions, some of the noteworthy special events that shouldn’t be missed include the coolest culinary collaborations, like World Class Culinary Collective, Sharing the Best of the Archipelago and Papua, Timor and Bali on the Table.
Foodies and culinary connoisseurs will be excited to know that the Ubud Food Festival’s Kitchen Stage will see cooking demos by Michelin-starred chefs Rishi Naleendra, Sun Kim and Jun Lee. For something more exhilarating, guests should mark their schedules for the culinary competitions at the Kitchen Stage, such as the Sambal Smackdown, the Salted Egg Showdown and the Battle of the Babi.
As always, the line-up gets ever more impressive this year – in terms of quantity and quality. Another much-awaited member of the culinary who’s-who is Indonesian-born Rydo Anton, the head chef at Gaggan in Bangkok, which has two Michelin stars and has been number one on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list for the past three years.
Of course, it’s not the Ubud Food Festival without Bali’s own stellar line-up.
