Known for its Active/Rest philosophy, The Gaia Hotel Bandung offers stay experiences for guests who wish to define the quality and nature of their own rest. With wellness being one of the philosophy’s pillars, complementing the supporting features, such as the fitness centre and outdoor exercise facilities, is the newly opened Sepik Massage Therapy & Spa.
The spa is named in honour of the Sepik River, the longest river on the pristine island of New Guinea. Just like the resort being named Gaia, which means mother nature or earth, the spa taking the name Sepik reflects the river’s important and undisturbed natural environment that resonates with much with the hotel’s philosophy. The backstory is also reflected in the spa’s treatments, which promise refined and organic experiences through all-natural products and empowering two-part repair-and-restore rituals that are beneficial for longer-term wellness.
The two-part spa experience focuses first on emptying through repairing treatments, then, at the other end of the spectrum, filling through restoring rituals. The repair massage therapies use natural products to achieve physical and mental relief and deeper rest, which leads to effective detoxification, circulation improvement and relieving muscle knots. Once the repair part of the treatment is complete, the restoration of energy and wellness will follow.
Sepik presents an array of therapeutic treatments, from compact 30-minute rituals to elaborate two-hour therapies. Still under the wellness pillar, many treatments at Sepik also carry healing qualities, such as sports massage and foot reflexology. Completing the library of treatments, more extensive and thorough relaxation options are available, like tissue massage therapy, lymphatic massage therapy and sleep therapy.
