Adrian Pardede – Assistant Director of Public Relations & Communications at Four Seasons Resorts Bali

Adrian Pardede

Q: Describe your responsibilities in 10 words or less.
A: Strategise and elevate PR-marketing for two Four Seasons Resorts Bali

Q: What’s a typical day in your line of work?
A: I start the day with a glass of americano. I thrive in a dynamic environment, moving back and forth between the Jimbaran Bay and Sayan resorts. From crafting engaging social media content to coordinating press trips, a significant portion of my day is dedicated to communication, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and promptly.

Q: What about a typical day when you have a day off?
A: I am all about staying active, even on my day off. You might catch me hitting the gym or the basketball court, going for a jog, or even getting my pilates on (yes, boys do pilates too!). I also love spending time with my wife, and we enjoy wandering around to find the best coffee and croissants on the island.

Q: What is the toughest part of your job?
A: Making people understand that the work of PR and marketing is challenging. Additionally, it is very important to maintain the standards of excellence of the Four Seasons brand while juggling the needs and expectations of our guests, the media and the management.

Q: What about the most rewarding part of your job?
A: The combination of working for the best hotel group in the world and working with the best people on the planet, there is no comp-set (competitive set) for this USP (unique selling point). Moreover, the brand offers a programme called Discovery Nights, allowing employees to enjoy dream holidays at other Four Seasons properties worldwide, truly embracing the Four Seasons’ essence.

Q: What or who has influenced you the most throughout your career?
A: I have been fortunate to be guided by incredible leaders who have taken the time to develop my skills in this field, especially considering that I didn’t have much experience in the hospitality background before. If I had to name one person, it would be my former boss, Marian Carroll, who was an integral mentor for me in my career.

Q: If you hadn’t become the assistant director of public relations and communications, what career path would you have chosen?
A: There are two possibilities: becoming a professional athlete or a stand-up comedian. I love playing basketball and, at the same time, I also love connecting with new people, interacting with them and making those around me happy when they’re with me.

Q: Name one special thing about the properties you work for.
A: It’s all about our people; they are at our core. We firmly believe in the golden rule – treating people the way we want to be treated. This means we respect every employee, provide them with the resources they need to do their best work, and then give them the space to share their gifts and talents with each other, and of course, with our guests.
