Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in the hospitality industry, and how did you rise to the general manager position?
A: I began my career in hospitality 21 years ago in Paris, France, without any formal education in the field. My journey started as a bellman at a prestigious five-star hotel, where I seized the opportunity to advance. I returned to my studies and earned a master’s degree in hospitality management in 2010. This academic achievement paved the way for me to take on the role of general manager.

Q: After pursuing your education in France, what led you to Indonesia?
A: I was eager to work abroad, with Asia at the top of my list due to its dynamic and rapidly evolving hospitality industry. Despite knowing little about Indonesia, I embraced the chance to work here as a general manager in 2011. This move allowed me to immerse myself in a region where significant developments continually shape our industry.

Q: In your opinion, what makes Indonesia particularly special, especially from the hospitality industry point of view?
A: The hospitality industry is very important, not only for tourism but also for business travel with the strong domestic market.

Q: What motivated you to continue your journey to Mövenpick Hotel Jakarta City Centre?
A: Mövenpick is an amazing brand, which develops a lot in our region, and it’s a fantastic opportunity to introduce the brand to Jakarta market.

Q: What are the key challenges you face as a general manager, and how do you overcome them?
A: The role of general manager presents a multifaceted set of challenges. Orchestrating the seamless alignment of operational and project timelines is paramount. This requires meticulous planning, resource allocation and a keen focus on pre-opening requirements.
