Celebrating 62 Years of Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta’s Historic Legacy.

Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta marks a new chapter by celebrating culture, cuisine and heritage.

Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta proudly marks its 62nd anniversary, celebrating a rich legacy as Indonesia’s first five-star hotel. Inaugurated by President Soekarno in 1962, this iconic establishment was designed by architect Abel Sorensen as a symbol of national pride and sophistication. Over six decades, the hotel has seamlessly blended heritage with contemporary elegance, becoming a cultural and historical landmark.

This year’s anniversary theme, “Icon of Indonesian Pride,” brings together a mix of awesome cultural moments. Guests can visit the “Kebaya Kala Kini” exhibit, enjoy an energetic Palang Pintu show and get swept up in tunes from the Jakarta Concert Orchestra. It’s all set to make the day super special for everyone who comes along.

The celebration also honours Indonesian culinary traditions, with an Angkringan-themed market and a four-course dinner inspired by the classic “Mustikarasa” cookbook, reflecting East Java’s flavours. As the hotel looks to the future, it remains committed to sustainability and innovation, continuing its role as a cultural hub bridging Indonesia’s past and present, a sentiment echoed by General Manager Harald Fitzek.
