The Balvenie Presents The Makers Project: The Craft that Binds

The Balvenie is teaming up with the brilliant Indonesian designer Alvin Tjitrowirjo for a fantastic exhibition called The Makers Project: The Craft that Binds.

The Makers Project highlights the artistry and passion behind whisky-making, showcasing the beauty of local craftsmanship in Indonesia. Alvin Tjitrowirjo has created a stunning installation called ‘The Cask’, inspired by the wooden casks used to age whisky. This interactive space features adjustable furniture and invites the guests to explore how craft connects different traditions, communities and senses.

At The Makers Project, you’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in various sensory experiences, such as touch, smell, taste and sound. Listen to stories from the Balvenie Makers, and don’t miss out on exciting whisky-inspired craft workshops and Makers Talks, where creative minds from different fields will share their passion for craftsmanship.

The Balvenie’s dedication to traditional whisky craftsmanship is at the heart of this exhibition. The distillery is renowned for its single malt whisky and takes pride in the human touch that goes into every drop. The Balvenie celebrates its Five Rare Crafts, from the Farmers who cultivate the barley to the Malt Master who oversees the entire process.

This event will occur at the alvinT Gallery during Indonesia Design Week from 10-20 October 2024 at the Indonesia Design District in PIK 2. During the event, Jyri Pylkkänen, Regional Malts Brand Ambassador, will lead guests through a customised buffet matched with some of the most significant single malts.
