Creative Affair at Art Jakarta 2024

Art Jakarta 2024, now in its 14th edition, is again captivating the art world at JIExpo Kemayoran. The excitement was palpable from the first day of the event. The doors opened to many VIP guests who flocked to the venue. Before the official opening, many were already eyeing the artworks they intended to purchase.

In the VIP lounges, exclusive exhibitions added another layer of intrigue. For example, UOB’s Play by UOB offered a creative outlet for children, encouraging them to express themselves while their parents explored the fair. On the other side, Julius Baer’s VIP Lounge featured a special exhibition by the celebrated Indonesian artist Sunaryo. UOB Art Space highlighted works by alums from the UOB Art Alumni Network, spanning Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

The Museum of Toys booth was filled with overwhelming enthusiasm. The displayed artworks were met with interest, with each piece receiving positive acclaim. One highlight was Clowdy Boys by Kong Andri, featuring 100 limited-edition balloons and ‘mushroom’ sculptures given away for free.

Elsewhere, Zen 1 Gallery showcased a large-scale installation that wowed the crowd. A collaboration between two renowned artists, Mulyana and Yudi Sulistyo. The installation paired Mulyana’s vibrant knitted works with Yudi’s full-scale boat sculpture, Ship Without a Sea. Yudi’s gigantic boat was a striking centrepiece, but Mulyana’s meticulous and colourful knitting perfectly complemented the surrounding space, creating a seamless blend of both artists’ styles.
