Marco Di Pasquale Hotel Manager at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali

Managing Excellence

Driven by a passion for hospitality, global experience and a strong commitment to wellbeing, Marco Di Pasquale has taken a new role as the Hotel Manager of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali. He shares his journey, insights and the secrets to creating unforgettable guest experiences.

Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in hospitality?

A: My love for food, travel and meeting new people naturally led me to a career in hospitality. More than that, I discovered a deep passion for creating lasting memories and bringing smiles to those around me, whether they are guests or colleagues. This industry allows me to make every experience meaningful and unforgettable.

Q: How did you come to join The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, and what excites you most about your role as a hotel manager?

A: When I received the call offering me this position, I was beyond excited. Reaching this point in my career has been a journey filled with invaluable experiences across various countries and hotels. I have always had a special place in my heart for Westin because it reflects my values and way of life, especially its emphasis on wellbeing. As hotel manager, I am eager to champion these values and, together with the team, introduce innovative experiences that ensure our guests leave feeling better than when they arrived.

Q: Can you describe your responsibilities as a hotel manager?

A: My role revolves around developing, empowering and collaborating with our associates to craft immersive experiences that enable our guests to thrive. It’s about fostering an environment where both guests and team members can feel their best.

Q: Your career has taken you across the world, from Abu Dhabi to South Korea and the Philippines. Is there a particular place that has shaped your approach the most?

A: Travelling and working in diverse cultures teach you invaluable lessons—embracing the local culture allows you to gain much from each experience. However, what has shaped me the most isn’t just the places I’ve been, but the incredible mentors, leaders and colleagues I’ve had the privilege to work with. The Marriott philosophy, “Take care of the associates, and they will take care of the guests,” has been a guiding principle in my professional journey.

Q: As a seasoned hotelier, can you share your most unique guest experiences?

A: There have been many memorable moments, but one that stands out was organising an extraordinary experience for a VIP guest.

From a private boat ride at sunset to an exclusive waterfront fine dining experience, every detail was carefully curated. The evening concluded with a custom-made cake shaped like a football in Argentina’s national colours—though what was inside remains a secret! The guest personally requested my involvement throughout the experience, making it all the more special. It was an unforgettable moment for both of us.

Q: As someone new to the island with a strong food and beverage background, how do you find Indonesian cuisine? Do you have a favourite dish?

A: I’m not new to Indonesian cuisine; I love it! My cravings change from time to time, but at the moment, I’m really enjoying Babi Guling. Just last week, I visited a small local warung and had an amazing meal. At one of our resort’s signature restaurants, Ikan Restaurant, I’ve explored incredible dishes like Beef Rendang, Mie Aceh and Balinese Bebek. Indonesian food is so diverse and flavourful—I never get tired of it! While I’m not a big fan of spicy food, I’m definitely getting used to it and enjoying every bite.

Q: Name one special thing about The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali.

A: There are many special things about this resort, but if I had to choose one, it would be our “Welcome Home” culture. Our associates are dedicated to making every guest feel at home, ensuring they Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well, Play Well, Work Well and Feel Well. Many of our team members have been with us for over 20 years, creating heartfelt connections with guests. Their passions and dedications inspire me, and I have so much to learn from them.

Q: What do you believe is the most important trait for success in the hospitality industry?

A: Being friendly, attentive and proactive in learning about the preferences of your guests is crucial. Anticipating their needs and going the extra mile can make all the difference. Passion is also important because everything comes easily when you are passionate about what you do. I take great pride in being approachable and always ready to assist. With my experience, I’ve honed my attentiveness to create meaningful guest experiences.
