New look, upgraded tech and competitive pricing mark the return of BAIC’s medium SUV to the Indonesian market.
After making its debut at GIIAS 2024, the BAIC X55 II officially returns to the spotlight with the launch of its facelift model in Alam Sutera. This medium-sized SUV, still powered by a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine, delivers a strong 185 hp and 305 Nm of torque—numbers that stand out in its class, even when compared to larger 1.6L rivals.
Several upgrades mark this facelift. Most notably, the vehicle now carries the updated “BAIC” badge instead of the previous “BEIJING” branding, aligning with the company’s brand positioning in Indonesia. Both exterior and interior design elements reflect this shift, offering a more cohesive identity.
Connectivity has also been improved. Apple CarPlay and Remote Start Engine are now available across both LITE and PRIME variants. The LITE variant offers practical features, including 18-inch alloy wheels, single-zone automatic air conditioning, and synthetic leather seats. Without roof rails or a panoramic sunroof, this version suits Indonesia’s tropical climate by reducing direct sun exposure. PRIME, meanwhile, comes with an intelligent panoramic sunroof, auto tailgate, 360-degree camera and added comfort features for a more advanced driving experience.
Both versions now offer fresh colour options. The LITE variant is available in black-on-black and white-on-black, while PRIME adds red, yellow, platinum grey, crystal grey, and white to its palette—totalling six colours.
Supported by pricing repositioning from BAIC’s principal in China, the X55 II Facelift is now more competitive. The LITE variant is priced at IDR 380 million, while the PRIME is offered at IDR 429 million (both OTR Jakarta). These changes aim to expand BAIC’s reach in Indonesia, offering well-rounded vehicles that balance technology, performance, and day-to-day practicality.
