MĀUA Nusa Penida hosted a luxurious Lunar New Year celebration featuring an exclusive TWG Luxury Tea Pairing Dinner and a one-night stay at its newest junior suite room.
This Lunar New Year, MĀUA Nusa Penida hosted an evening of sophistication and culinary artistry with its TWG Luxury Tea Pairing Dinner on Wednesday, 29 January 2025. This exclusive event brought together a perfect harmony of flavours and tradition at Kōwhai Restaurant, offering guests an unforgettable dining experience. We were fortunate to be among the invited guests, indulging in its exquisite dinner and luxurious stay.
From the moment we set sail from Sanur aboard a speedboat, anticipation filled the air. The journey across the turquoise waters was smooth and invigorating, leading us to the pristine shores of Nusa Penida just in time for a leisurely midday arrival.
Nestled atop the lush hills overlooking Gamat Bay, MĀUA Nusa Penida exuded a sense of refined tranquillity. The warm welcome from the resort’s staff set the tone for the experience ahead, blending personalised hospitality with the natural charm of the island.
Lunch served as a delightful introduction to MĀUA’s culinary offerings, featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients presented in a setting that embraced sustainability and understated luxury. The resort’s thoughtful design, incorporating recycled ironwood and eco-friendly amenities, seamlessly intertwined elegance with environmental consciousness.
As the afternoon unfolded, the breathtaking sight of the sky shifting to hues of orange and pink approached, casting a golden glow over the horizon. This beautiful display signalled the beginning of the evening’s highlight—the TWG Luxury Tea Pairing Dinner, a celebration of tradition and flavour in honour of the Lunar New Year. The dining experience was a carefully curated journey, with each dish paired with a premium TWG tea, elevating the flavours in a harmonious symphony.
The meal commenced with a tantalising amuse-bouche of Sichuan eggplant; its gentle spice complemented by the refreshing Moroccan Mint Tea. The first course featured delicately steamed fish in olive and black bean sauce, enhanced by the floral elegance of Grand Jasmine Tea. The second course was a vibrant combination of avocado prawn tartare, Asian herbs, tuna sashimi and salmon roe, with their fresh notes enriched by the depth of Oolong Prestige Tea – our favourite tea that evening.
For the main course, we enjoyed a sumptuous serving of fried rice noodles with sliced beef in soy sauce, beautifully complemented by the bold and refined Royal Darjeeling Tea. To bring the evening to a sweet close, a traditional mooncake paired with strawberry and coconut sauce, accompanied by the soothing notes of Chamomile Tea, leaving a lingering sense of warmth and indulgence.
The magic of the night did not end with dinner. After a truly satisfying culinary experience, we stayed in MĀUA’s newly unveiled Junior Suite, a haven of serenity that reflected the resort’s commitment to contemporary comfort and eco-conscious luxury. The spacious suite, adorned with soft, neutral tones and modern amenities, opened to a private balcony overlooking the lush tropical surroundings. The gentle rustle of the trees and the distant sound of waves created an ambiance of pure relaxation.
The following morning felt like it had arrived too soon, yet the experience of MĀUA Nusa Penida lingered long after our departure. From the warm hospitality and exquisite tea pairing dinner to the unrivalled comfort of the Junior Suite and the breathtaking natural beauty of the island, every moment was a celebration of luxury, tradition and tranquillity. It was a Lunar New Year spent in the most extraordinary way—a true testament to the art of hospitality and the timeless charm of the magical Nusa Penida.
