Explore how Singaporean artists capture the rhythms and nuances of a city where tradition and modernity meet in new and surprising ways.
The URBAN PULSE: Spectrum of Contemporary Art in Singapore exhibition opens with an exciting blend of artistic expressions, giving audiences in Surabaya and Jakarta a rare glimpse into Singapore’s thriving art scene. The Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Jakarta, in partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board, ISA Art and Design, and Jakarta Land, has curated this showcase to celebrate the creativity and diversity of Singaporean contemporary artists.
These seven artists, Aiman, Nathan Tan, Natasha Lim, Tammylyn Tuang, Ripple Root, Sophia Dominguez, and Xiaocong Ge, will present works that examine the rhythm and vibrancy of urban life, offering insight into how personal and collective identities intertwine in a rapidly changing cityscape. Through various mediums, their artworks reflect the shifting boundaries between tradition and modernity, as well as individual and community, bringing to life an array of experiences shaped by Singapore’s unique cultural blend.
The exhibition engages viewers with evocative visuals and layered storytelling, highlighting Singapore’s role as a leader in Southeast Asia’s contemporary art landscape. URBAN PULSE will be on display from 26 October to 8 November 2024 at Orasis Art Space in Surabaya, and from 18 November to 13 December 2024 at World Trade Centre 2 in Jakarta, inviting attendees to connect with the cultural pulse of the city-state.
