As a seasoned professional in the hospitality industry, Adrien Michel Marie brings his experience in sales and marketing, as well as his valuable skills to lead Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali as the general manger. He sat down with us to talk about his hospitality journey.
Q: Your job has taken you around the globe. What is your favourite thing about moving around?
A: Travelling and living in various countries has broadened my horizons and enriched my understanding of different cultures. My favourite thing about moving around is the opportunity to fully immerse myself in unique environments, engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and embrace the wealth of knowledge that comes from their different perspectives. This continuous journey has cultivated a global mind set within me and enhanced my adaptability to different situations.
Q: What made you decide to move to Bali?
A: Bali has always held a special place in my heart. Its rich culture, stunning landscapes and warm hospitality have attracted travellers from all over the world. When the opportunity arose to work at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali, I knew it was a chance to be part of something truly extraordinary.
Q: Moving forward, what plans do you have in store for Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali?
A: Moving forward, we have exciting plans in store for Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali. Drawing upon my sales and marketing expertise and in collaboration with our dedicated team, we aim to elevate the resort’s reputation and enrich the overall guest experience. Our first priority is to enhance the resort’s visibility to attract a wider audience. Through targeted marketing campaigns, engaging with travel agents and leveraging digital platforms, our aim is to captivate potential guests worldwide by showcasing the exquisite beauty of Bali and the exceptional offerings of our resort.
I am also committed to working closely with and supporting the local community. At our resort, we constantly strive to forge collaborations with local artisans, craftsmen, farmers and suppliers to infuse authentic Balinese elements into our guest experiences. Through partnerships with Ubud Raw Chocolate, Arak Dewi Sri Bali, Bali Kintamani coffee beans, Bali Pulau Rempah Indonesia, Rimbawan Market Bali, Jimbaran Fishermen Village for seafood, and Bedugul Strawberry, we proudly incorporate their exceptional commodities into our culinary offerings. By doing so, we celebrate and support the rich heritage and produce of Bali while providing our guests with an authentic and unforgettable experience.
We are dedicated to implementing eco-friendly practices throughout Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali, with a focus on minimising our carbon footprint. Our commitment to responsible tourism encompasses waste reduction, the elimination of single-use plastics and active support for initiatives that preserve Bali’s natural beauty for future generations.
Through strategic marketing, unique offerings and a steadfast dedication to responsible practices, we aim to position the resort as a leading destination in Bali, creating enduring memories for our esteemed guest.
Q: What is the most memorable or rewarding moment in your career?
A: The most fulfilling aspect has been witnessing the profound impact we have on our guests’ experiences during their stay. Following the post-pandemic period, our ability to attract new guests and provide exceptional services has resulted in resoundingly positive feedback and an increase in repeat visits. It is truly gratifying to realise that we have played a role in creating cherished memories and contributing to our guests’ special moments. These instances serve as a powerful reminder of the significance of our work in the hospitality industry and inspire me to continually strive for excellence, pushing the boundaries further each day.
Q: What advice do you have for people who want to work in the industry?
A: My advice to aspiring individuals in the hospitality industry is to embrace curiosity and continuous learning. This industry thrives on innovation, and being adaptable to change is essential. Seek opportunities to broaden your horizons, whether through travel, cross-functional experiences, or pursuing additional education in related fields.
Additionally, never underestimate the power of networking and building meaningful relationships. Collaborating with colleagues, industry professionals, and mentors can provide valuable insights and open doors for growth.
