Home from Home
Dotted along the coastline of Bali’s black sand Pabean beach, Anapuri is a quiet haven away from the crowds of Kuta and Legian. Despite its secluded location, there’s no need to fret about facilities, entertainment, or stocking up on your favourite bottle of vino, because Anapuri has got everything covered. From its on site snorkelling, kayaking and surfing, to beauty treatments, hair salons and even a library and home cinema, this boutique villa complex has thought of it all.
Designed by Guy Morgan, each villa captures the detailed elegance of traditional Balinese interiors; combined with one of the most contemporary and chic designs I have ever laid my eyes upon. The villas exude modern sophistication, jazzed up with extravagant amenities and technology. Rooms can remain minimalist in their design and gadgets, but with just a click of a button or a flick of a lock, a whole new world can be revealed. LED televisions electronically emerge from the foot of the beds, while giant walk-in wardrobes are disguised behind sleek carved doors. Beauty products are neatly stored in segmented little boxes, and chic wooden chests conceal fully-stocked fridges. Indeed, the villas are aesthetically contemporary, but the four natural themes of the residences bring you back to nature, in a first-class, opulent kind of way.
Water
Puri Salila is the largest of the villas, and it is as cool and calm as the water that surrounds it. The generous living spaces are in a class of their own – open plan and airy, soaking up the cool sea breeze. Each bedroom and every bathroom can be adjusted to your liking – al fresco to lap up the dazzling landscapes, or cosy and intimate to share with that special someone.
The garden and dining areas are some of the most social spaces you could hope for. A nearby stone pavilion plays host to the outdoor beach bar, barbecue and wood-fired oven, setting the scene for that perfect family get together. The dining table is remarkable – a single solid cut of wood, with twenty chairs neatly placed around it, reminiscent of a regal banquet. A family-friendly games room, with a pool table measuring nine-feet in length, is perfect for after dinner gatherings.
Puri Salila is also the most high-tech of the villas, with its own private home cinema decked out with a 130-inch screen and over a thousand movies to choose from on the touch-screen iPad. Lights on or off? I chose neither, and instead enjoyed the al-fresco feel of the star-like speckled lights that twinkle from the ceiling. The entire room can then be transformed into a fantastic dance-floor for after-hours fun. Complete with a state-of-the-art DJ booth, this is the ultimate in entertainment systems.
Earth
Textured wood and natural stones root the lavish Puri Awani four-bedroom villa firmly into the earth. The four king-sized suites are wonderfully private, each with their own expansive bathrooms and ocean-view balconies. A game room is equipped with a 3/4 pool table measuring seven-feet, while an Xbox and NAS movie system will keep twenty-first century kids amused while you enjoy the in-room wine fridge and coffee machine. Outside in the primped and preened garden area, smart umbrellas shade perfectly-positioned sunbeds, offering a cool reprieve from the dazzling sun. Forgot your sunhat? Don’t worry, Anapuri has got it covered.
Air
A warm Balinese breeze greets me at Puri Saanti, the three-bedroom en-suite villa with an open yet private design. The crisp sea air cascades throughout the overarching palms and into the stunning villa, where open-air bathtubs and a garden barbecue await. A fully protected widow’s walkway makes way for a stunning uninterrupted vista of the glittering ocean. The villa also boasts its own study area, which can be transformed to create a fourth guest bedroom or kids room. Forgot the baby monitor? Need a babysitter? Don’t worry, because once again, Anapuri has got it covered.
Fire
The fourth and final villa is the picturesque Puri Kamadewa, exuding passion, warmth and luxury. Shaded private walkways and a view of the mystical Mount Agung from the private bathing pavilion makes this villa the ideal location for a secluded getaway. Egg-shaped chairs and huge squishy sofas are just two examples of an endless spectrum of places to curl up and unwind.
