The design of Hong Kong’s award-winning restaurant, aqua, is the result of a collaboration between founder David Yeo and interior designer David Collins. Winner of the Quintessentially 2011 Award for Interior Designer of the Year, David Collins is famous for designing a portfolio of award-winning venues, including London restaurants The Wolseley, Nobu Berkeley Square and Massimo.
At aqua, 29th floors above Hong Kong’s famous harbour, an ancient Egyptian Ankh sets the scene for the collaborative design beyond. Doors glide open to reveal dazzling harbour and city views through two-storey floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Marine blue hues surround a natural wood floor with plush embossed leather seating, warm yellows and antique brass tones.
Fresnel glass lamps and bespoke chandeliers cast their discrete light to the centres of two-tone blue lacquered tabletops, whilst centre-stage, a glamorous bar – home to aqua’s cool cocktails – sports two large beautiful bespoke classical lamps.
