Burberry

Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection

The Gentleman reigns supreme this season as heritage trench coats, oversize college stripe trench coats, luggage lock duffle coats, slim sartorial tailoring and double breasted chevron knit shawl collar pea coats graced the runways for Burberry’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection for men. Immaculate looks such as tapered tab hem trousers and hand-applied velvet top collars impressed the front row along with the equestrian theme that featured adjustable equestrian hook straps and contrast equestrian cord collars. Cool weather fabrics warmed up the crowd with worsted micro-tweed wool, textured tumbled wool, urban clean cashmere felt knits, silk cashmere tweed felt jacquards, and compact cotton corduroys.

Accessories ruled as they usually do at Burberry shows including the uber-trendy umbrella featuring English resin animal head handles paired with college stripe fabric and leather-bound studded handles paired with solid colour umbrellas. Studded leather gloves, herringbone tweed flat caps, geometric Fair Isle cashmere scarves and sartorial gingham print neck ties set the mood in smoky beige, bright khaki, bronze red, blackcurrant and dark clove brown.

Town & Country Sophistication

Maintaining a very British character while mixing in state-of-the-art fashion design technology and a dash of humor, Burberry’s Autumn/Winter 2012 Womenswear collection launched in London amidst soaring glasshouse-style walls. Women’s hips are the accessory of the season accentuated with bow tie belts in black onyx, soft mustard yellow and shell pink. Exuding town and country sophistication, equestrian-inspired skinny pants, cropped jackets featuring a mix of soft flannel and shiny black leather fabrics, classic trench coats trimmed with fur collars lined with quintessential Burberry honey colored flannels adopted an edgy look when paired with chunky wedge ankle boots and oversized clutches.
