Legian Beach is a favourite place to surf, sunbathe and take in the stunning sunsets over a cocktail or two, or three. A relatively new, but already popular venue on this scene is AZUL Beach Club. Playing on the natural tropical beauty of the area, AZUL, which itself means a shade of blue, is a three-story spiralling bamboo structure with wooden floors and interior decor that is primarily blue, while picking up the varied colours of nature that surround the area.
Swathes of bright turquoise highlight the Indian Ocean; gleaming shell and pebble panels look casual and stylish, providing a rugged texture; coloured glass lanterns hang from dark metal chains, while furnishings have abstract blocks of tan, turquoise and shades of beige. The quirkily angled bamboo ceilings are interspersed with blackboards covered in silver swirls inspired by wayang puppetry and the local script. With open walls providing thatch-edged views out across the white sands and azure sea, as well as the lush green gardens, AZUL Beach Club is a fun place to take in the interactive chefs, music stylists and great drinks as guests lounge, dine and unwind.
