- Sting “”57th & 9th“”
Sting saw his last commercial recording success in 1999 with his album Brand New Day, which won him two Grammys and went multiplatinum. Since then he has been involved with a number of projects, including the yearlong Police reunion tour, his Broadway stage play, The Last Ship, and has toured with both Paul Simon and more recently with Peter Gabriel. Sting’s latest album, 57th & 9th, due to be released on 11th November, will see him return to his musical, rock-influenced style. The title references the road he crossed to get to the New York studio where most of the album was recorded. Much of the album, Sting says, is about emigrating. Inshallah, for example, references refugees travelling to Europe, while One Fine Day talks about the biggest migration risk of all, climate change.
The rumours are true and after a recording hiatus since 2008, Metallica, one of the most popular heavy metal bands in the world, have revealed details and released information about Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, their 11th studio album. Available on digital download, double CD and vinyl it features 12 new tracks and almost 80 minutes of new Metallica heavy metal mayhem and hits the shops on 18th November. For the collectors there’s a deluxe version featuring 14 recordings of the riffs that were the origins of the upcoming album. The fast riff-driven title track has been released both as a single and on Metallica’s YouTube channel as a taste of what’s to come.
- Bon Jovi “”This House Is Not for Sale””
Legendary American rockers Bon Jovi released their latest and thirteenth studio album, This House Is Not for Sale, in late October with the single of the same name released for download and via their VEVO channel. For Bon Jovi fans, This House will tick all the boxes as will the news the band is likely to tour in early 2017. The new album comes on the heels of some tension with the record label, “”The record is about our integrity. Integrity matters and we’re at a place in our career where we don’t have anything left to prove.”” Jon told the press and gathered fans at a recent media conference at which he also confirmed the promotion of unofficial members Hugh McDonald and Phil X to full-time band members.
