BIS Celebrates Academic Success and Campus Enhancements

Bali Island School (BIS) concluded the 2023-2024 academic year with remarkable accomplishments by its Grade 12 students in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). These students not only excelled academically but also led innovative sustainability projects. As the new academic year begins, BIS has unveiled a newly refurbished Primary Years playground, enhancing the school environment for younger students.

This year, BIS’s Grade 12 students achieved an impressive average score of 34.73, surpassing the global average of 30 points. The highest score attained was 42 points. Additionally, 30 percent of the students earned the Bilingual Diploma, expanding their university opportunities. Mike Miller, Head of School at BIS, expressed immense pride in the students’ consistent performance above the global average, attributing this success to the dedication and hard work of the entire school community.

Middle Years Programme students, from grades six to 10, participated in various student-led projects under the Service as Action (SaA) curriculum, benefitting the local community and environment. Notable projects included planting coral fragments in collaboration with the Livingseas Foundation, sterilising stray cats in partnership with Villa Kitty, and providing English lessons and books to local students. These initiatives underscored BIS’s commitment to sustainability and positive community impact.

The newly refurbished Primary Years playground, spanning 21.6m in length and 7.6m in width, features diverse play equipment, such as swings, slides, a seesaw and tree houses with climbing walls. This vibrant and secure space promotes active play and friendships among young learners. In addition to the playground, BIS has also renovated the canteen and the covered court, further enhancing the school’s facilities.

The impressive IBDP results and campus upgrades highlight BIS’s commitment to providing a world-class education, positioning it as a top choice for international families in Indonesia. BIS continues to lead among IB continuum schools in the region, demonstrating excellence in both academics and community engagement.
