In August, Christian Dior invited its esteemed clients and VIPs to an intimate cocktail party at its flagship store in Plaza Indonesia, where they indulged in champagne and canapés while browsing through the Autumn/Winter 2019 ready-to-wear collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Maria sought inspiration from Britain’s post-war Teddy Girls, the working-class rock ‘n roll vixens who hit the clubs in a mix of men’s Edwardian jackets, full skirts, blue jeans, leather, velvet and eyeliner galore.
Just one of the creations brought out by Dior this season was silk-screened T-shirts paying tribute to American feminist poet Robin Morgan with statements such as Sisterhood is Powerful, Sisterhood is Global and Sisterhood is Forever. Socialite twin sisters Amanda and Janna Soekasah hosted the lavish evening, looking resplendent wearing the collection.
