It was time to plan our annual couples getaway, a chance to relax with a few glasses of wine in front of Bali’s most famous sunset. Specialising in a diverse menu that offers Asia’s most delectable international cuisine and farm-to-table produce, Chez Gado Gado’s culinary team never rests on its laurels; wowing us with a brand new lunch menu that kept us energised and refreshed post shopping and golf.

Lovingly referred to as “Bali’s Little Europe”, the vibrant resort destination of Seminyak has blossomed into a chic cosmopolitan neighbourhood that exudes big city ambience. Just a convenient, five-minute walk from The Breezes Bali Resort & Spa, we were excited to try Chez Gado Gado’s collection of international and Indonesian wine offerings, perfectly paired with the chef’s recently launched three-course menu selections.

Comprising one starter, one main and one dessert, Chef Quib offers a full range of Chez Gado Gado’s tastes and timeless style. We settled on the outdoor terrace below the beautiful beach trees, as the gentle rustle of Seminyak’s ocean breeze easily seduced us into Bali’s laid-back island rhythms. Although my starter of Prawn and Fish Sate with sambal matah & cucumber, a main of Seared Mahi Mahi with cherry tomato vinaigrette & potato puree and a decadent Vanilla Panna Cotta with red berries and coulis should have satisfied my craving for Chez Gado Gado’s incomparable cuisine, the experience only heightened it.

With an attractively priced Apero sunset cocktail list recently launched to include my favourite Mojito, a heavenly concoction of premium Bacardi rum, lime, mint and sugar, we decided to resume our positions on the deck post-spa later that afternoon. Indulging in an unforgettable grazing-style dinner, we ordered a family-style selection from the new Apero Bouchees menu, featuring delectable bites including Kalamata Olives, Beef Burger Sliders, Crab Spring Rolls and Prawns in Garlic Butter. Sometimes it just doesn’t pay to reinvent the wheel when it comes to sophisticated cuisine, innovative cocktails and the best sunset in Bali.
