Celebrate the festive season with special treats for the senses.
Welcoming the most wonderful time of the year, InterContinental Jakarta Pondok Indah has prepared special fun festivities to pamper the senses. The first is a heart-warming Christmas tree lighting ceremony that took place at The Lounge on the lobby floor. Held at the beginning of this month, staying guests were treated to a fine performance of Christmas carols sung by Serenata Voice Choir. Led by award-winning conductor Sonia Nadya Simanjuntak, the choir added a fun experience with its beautiful renditions of Carols of the Bells and Have a Holly Jolly Christmas.
Inaugurated by general manager Pierro Bellizzi, the Christmas tree is adorned with blue, silver and golden baubles, ribbons and glittering snowflakes. The night’s festivities continued with a sublime dining experience with signature Christmas dishes including roast turkey, gluhwein and a red Belgian chocolate fondue created by executive chef Christoph Pouls.
Along with the Christmas tree, the hotel is also providing a special Christmas shop for guests. The traditional and elegantly decorated pop-up shop is filled with special collections of Christmas goodies, ranging from sweet treats to ornaments.
Chef Christoph has also created a special treat inspired by his family legacy that can be found in the shop – Dikkoek van Truike. This is a sweet brioche filled with pearl sugar and raisins, typically eaten at teatime in the Maasland region, around the city of Maaseik, Belgium. This recipe has been passed onto Chef Christoph’s grandmother, Maria Pouls, by one of her closest friends, Madam Truike. Dikkoek is a family staple and recently Chef Christoph recovered the recipe from notes in an old cooking book he inherited from his grandmother.
