Join the spirit of adventure at Hong Kong’s first truly themed hotel, filled with unexpected twists and turns and your favourite Disney characters.
New for summer 2017 Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s third hotel, the Disney Explorers Lodge has just opened its doors, welcoming guests to a brand-new hotel experience crammed with exotic adventures, themed dining and full-on family fun.
Located adjacent to Penny’s Bay on Lantau Island, the Disney Explorers Lodge sits at the heart of Hong Kong Disneyland and features art and cultural experiences from across Asia, South America, Africa and Oceania. With an incredible selection of exploration-themed activities, modern facilities and immersive dining restaurants, plus the fact it is part of one of the most popular theme parks in the region, it’s bound to tick the family holiday box.
With four wings and themed gardens each showcasing either the cultures of Asia, Oceania, South America or Africa, the seven-storey hotel boast 750 rooms. All the rooms sleep up to four in two queen-size beds and have views over the sea or landscaped gardens. Nearly 70 percent of the rooms have connection options allowing guests the flexibility of extra space and the ability to share their experiences with friends or family in adjacent rooms.
The rooms are comfortable and feature design aspects accented from the Disney collection, such as the Mickey and Minnie Mouse tiki-styled masks on the headboards. The room amenities are also designed for families with kids’ bathrobes, toothbrush sets and bathtubs with stepping stools, for example. The rooms themselves are planned to maximise space. For something special, treat your kids to a themed room decoration package and add a magical touch to your hotel stay. The Junior Explorers Room Decoration Package comes with Explorer’s tent, mock-firefly and ukulele, but don’t worry dad, it also includes ukulele lessons!
There are three terrific themed restaurants and, offering over 550 dishes and 30 specialty drinks, there will be something to suit everyone’s taste. Kick back and enjoy an eclectic selection of specialty coffees and casual fast food from continental breakfasts, salads and sandwiches to made-to-order pastas while soaking in the peaceful, calming and welcoming atmosphere at the Chart Room Cafe.
Savour the tastes of ancient wisdom with signature delights from rural and classical provincial China, with culinary styles and layout inspired by the Five Elements at Dragon Wind. Open and airy and decorated with whimsical dragon kites, your favourite Disney friends will be on hand during the breakfast and lunch buffet to say hello, so don’t forget your camera!
Discover the spices and herbs of the new and old world with flavours drawn from across the world’s seas, islands and continents. Pizzas, soups, salads, light western cuisine such as pastas, a grill for healthy meat and seafood dishes plus a variety of vegetarian dishes and light Asian cuisine is what awaits the hungry explorer at the World of Colour.
Perhaps the biggest attraction for families is what you can do whilst you are there. The pools and play areas are a bundle of fun and there’s always a Disney friend on hand for those important holiday snaps. Check out the afternoon poolside party at the Rain Drop Pool with cool games and activities, or join the hotel exploration and learn about all kinds of plants and cultures in four themed gardens named after characters from Disney and DisneyPixar movies, or kick start the day with Goofy and a spot of morning Tai Chi.
With a specially designated entrance and a Priority Admission Pass to at least one park attraction (dependent on room and occupancy) the all-new Disney Explorers Lodge looks set to be the summer hit of 2017.
