Experience the enchanting Balinese celebrations at Four Seasons Resorts Bali at Jimbaran Bay and Sayan.
This year is such a special year for Balinese people, as Kuningan and Nyepi, also known as the Day of Silence, collide at the same time. For those who didn’t know, Kuningan is a religious festival celebrating the victory of virtue over evil. For ten days, the island is brought to life with ceremonial activities, vibrant decorations, and traditional offerings to the spirits. In contrast, the Balinese calendar celebrates Nyepi, a new beginning, with meditation, prayer, introspection, and silence. The whole island comes to a standstill for 24 hours, and people stay at home with their families, celebrating the values of kindness, connection and love.
Four Seasons Resorts in Bali are inviting guests to partake in various immersive experiences, spanning from culinary and beverage adventures to wellness and cultural offerings, in honour of this double event. Applicable for check-in on 8 to 10 March 2024, guests will also enjoy the additional benefits of a complimentary breakfast and dinner for two on Nyepi Day.
Welcoming guests of all ages, both resorts will have an array of mindful Nyepi events for them to choose from: learning traditional Aksara (Sanskrit calligraphy), making Balinese herbal tonic of jamu, weaving klangsah, and the not-to-be-missed Mebuu Buu ritual procession featuring smoke, torches and loud gongs believed to cleanse the environment.
Kuningan festivities will take place on 9 and 10 March 2024 with sacred dining and traditional performances. At Sayan, guests can learn how to make a symbolically decorated bamboo penjor before feasting on prosperity with Chef Wayan Sutariawan’s Nasi Kuning at Ayung Terrace. A shared spit-roast on the resort’s temple grounds marks the occasion at Jimbaran Bay, alongside live music and dancing. At the same time, a traditional shadow puppet show invites a journey into Balinese Hindu myth and folklore.
