Disney’s iconic theme parks will see significant changes in the coming years as the company expands its attractions to entice fans of all ages.
Walt Disney World and Disneyland are poised for exciting transformations as Disney’s theme park division embarks on new ambitious projects. The ambitious lineup includes a dedicated villain-themed land, a new world based on Cars and rides inspired by Monsters, Inc., Encanto, Coco and Avatar. These developments promise to breathe fresh life into Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Disney California Adventure and more.
One of the most exciting upcoming additions is Villains Land, which is dedicated to Disney’s iconic villains. Although Walt Disney World in Florida has yet to provide an exact location or timeline, fans can expect a thrilling new area to offer a wicked experience. Meanwhile, Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Florida will soon see a transformation in its Frontierland area, becoming a world inspired by Cars. This area will host two new attractions, including a high-speed race through the mountains and an adventure explicitly tailored for young visitors.
Marvel fans can look forward to more hero action in Disney California Adventure. A thrilling Avengers-themed ride, Avengers Infinity Defense, will allow riders to battle against Thanos with an immersive experience that promises to put fans in the heart of the action. Additionally, Stark Flight Lab will bring back Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, offering fans a chance to explore the world of Stark Industries.
In Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, Monsters, Inc. fans will soon have the chance to enter Monstropolis on a brand-new suspended roller coaster. This ride will recreate the high-energy door scene from the movie and become Disney’s first roller coaster, where seats hang below the track. Fans of Pixar’s Coco can also look forward to a ride to transport them to the Land of the Dead, debuting at Disney California Adventure.
Construction for most of these attractions is expected to begin in 2025, with the Coco ride breaking ground in 2026. Meanwhile, Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World will introduce the Tropical Americas in 2027, a new 11-acre land featuring attractions inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones. Another significant addition will be the Avatar area at Disney California Adventure, featuring a fresh boat ride through the world of Pandora, distinct from the existing Avatar land in Walt Disney World.
