BALI’S INAUGURAL FASHION FESTIVAL
Die-hard fashion fans and A-list celebrities were treated to a week-long fashion festival at The Stones Hotel Legian in Bali that showcased several up-and-coming as well as established fashion brands. Glamorous catwalk shows, endless amounts of Champagne and glitzy after-hours parties were all de rigueur as Asia’s who’s who came out in full force to celebrate.
Australia was well represented during the inaugural Bali Fashion Festival, launching the festivities with an opening show on August 24th featuring a beautiful couture collection by Leah De Gloria from Project Runway Australia. Australia’s eclectic and chic style was apparent as Story by Tang, BARE, State of Georgia and Pared eyewear made a lasting impression. Shackahachi introduced its Cyber-Barbarella range of space age grunge and floaty, feminine florals to an adoring crowd of hipsters and fashionistas. Models walked out in wistful prints and girlish silhouettes. Bomber jackets coated in a metallic sheen were paired with playful floral camisoles and figure-hugging bustiers.
Finishing off strong with an unforgettable closing party on August 31st, Peter Brampton, GM of The Stones Hotel Legian, said he was thrilled with the activity. “From the original concept of creating an integrated fashion event that would showcase the Pan Pacific region’s emerging and established designers to Bali’s industry and travel audience – it’s exciting to see the Festival come together. The island has become a melting pot of designers, celebrities and artists that have been able to engage and enjoy each other’s creativity.” (www.thefashionfestival.com)
