Alila Seminyak is going a step further in helping the environment with its own hydroponic garden.
One of the first few properties on the island to seriously embrace sustainability, the Alila brand is always looking for new ideas to help the earth and local communities. Alila Seminyak’s latest initiative is its own hydroponic garden.
Hydroponics is a method of growing plants in a water-based solution without soil, which means even limited spaces can be used for gardening. Moreover, the system is water-saving as the plant roots take up as much water as they need and no more, while also allowing for total control over nutrients and plant growth rate.
The fresh produce from the hydroponic garden is used in Alila Seminyak’s own day-to-day operational needs, mainly in dishes offered at the resort’s restaurant, Seasalt. Selected ingredients are also picked from the garden to concoct Seasalt’s sustainable, ocean-inspired cocktails.
