What’s not to like about the all-new Hyundai KONA Electric? Numerous special features, easy-charging options and a locally produced battery make the car the new favourite in the dynamic world of EV.
Hyundai Motors Indonesia officially launched the all-new KONA Electric at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). This release marks a significant development in Indonesia’s automotive industry, as the KONA Electric is equipped with locally produced batteries from PT HLI Green Power. This latest model in Hyundai’s electric vehicle (EV) line-up is set to redefine driving in Indonesia, thanks to its innovative design, extensive all-electric range (AER) exceeding 600km and a suite of state-of-the-art features.
The all-new KONA Electric promises a seamless charging experience, featuring a global standard charger port (CCS2) compatible with various charging stations across Indonesia. In addition to standard charging options, the KONA Electric offers a unique Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature, allowing users to power a range of devices, from electric scooters to laptops, directly from the car. The inclusion of Utility Mode ensures that the car’s electronics, such as audio and lighting, can operate without depleting the 12V battery, preserving energy for essential functions.
The KONA Electric’s exterior is distinguished by its clean, aerodynamic lines and futuristic aesthetic. The Pixelated Seamless Horizon Lamp, extending across the front and rear, establishes a unique visual signature. Complementing this is the integration of Full LED projector lamps within the front bumper, offering both functionality and style. The car’s appearance is further enhanced by body-coloured wheel arches and bold parametric surfaces, creating a dynamic and robust impression. Energy efficiency is improved through the Active Air Flap system, which manages airflow to the vehicle’s components as needed.
Inside, the KONA Electric offers a generous cabin space designed for maximum comfort and utility. With dimensions of 4,355mm in length, 1,825mm in width, 1,580mm in height and a 2,660mm wheelbase, the interior is both roomy and well-appointed. The flat floor design in the second row contributes to the overall spaciousness, and the vehicle boasts 466 litres of luggage space, expandable to 1,300 litres with the rear seats folded.
Entertainment and convenience features abound within the cabin. The KONA Electric is equipped with a Panoramic Display, combining a 12.3-inch LCD cluster with a 12.3-inch navigation screen, delivering a seamless digital experience. The infotainment system supports wireless connectivity through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, enabling users to easily access their favourite apps. The car also includes an advanced audio system with eight premium BOSE speakers, ensuring high-quality sound for an enjoyable ride.
The all-new KONA Electric is available in five variants, catering to diverse consumer preferences. The Signature Long Range and Prime Long Range models come with a 66 kWh battery, offering a range of over 500km and 600km respectively. All variants deliver 255 Nm of torque, providing a responsive and exhilarating driving experience. The KONA Electric’s top speed ranges from 155km/h for the standard range to 167km/h for the long-range models.
Hyundai has integrated several cutting-edge technologies into the KONA Electric, including Hyundai SmartSense, an advanced driver assistance system designed to enhance safety and comfort. The car’s regenerative braking system, featuring the i-Pedal function, allows drivers to control speed with ease while optimising energy recovery.
With the launch of the all-new KONA Electric, Hyundai Motors Indonesia continues to lead the way in sustainable mobility solutions. By incorporating locally produced batteries and a host of innovative features, the KONA Electric is poised to become a preferred choice for eco-conscious consumers in Indonesia, reflecting Hyundai’s commitment to a greener future.
