Sitting in the oldest and largest of Kenya’s national parks, Tsavo West National Park, this dreamy holiday destination is built around freshwater springs on a sprawling 35 acres of land boasting unobstructed views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the magnificent Chyulu Hills, known to be home to more than 12,000 animal species.
Originally opened in 1993 and had a complete re-build of the entire camp and re-opened in 2015, the camp comprises only 17-tented suites. Each suite is designed to be minimally intrusive to give total privacy. With an open-air plan to allow the cool breeze to sweep in, the inside is filled with luxury amenities to create a comfortable haven after spending most of the day outside. Each suite is fully equipped with outdoor and indoor showers, copper bathtub, comfortable bed with high-quality linens and all the conveniences that one would expect from five-star accommodation.
In order to provide guests with the real safari experience, a team of passionate workers who have been working for the camp since the beginning run Finch Hattons. They take guests on a safari journey through the savannah to view the life of wild animals in their natural habitat. When the weather becomes too unbearable, guests can still see wild animals from the comfort of their suite’s deck. Animals that have been known to make appearances are hippos, crocodiles, baboons and many more, including Tsavo Park’s most famous red elephants.
Although they are known for the best safari experience in the African wilderness, staying guests are also invited to try the onsite amenities. An open-air spa is readily available for anyone who is looking to relax, while a yoga deck with a full gym is also available. The tented camp also houses three natural spring water pools for anyone looking to cool off from the weather.
