Jumeirah Bali, the luxurious all-villa retreat, marked its first year in operation with a grand gala reception that left attendees mesmerised and enthralled last July. The Amartha Water Palace event, held at the stunning Trowulan Court, a piazza reminiscent of the ancient Majapahit Empire, was a celebration of architectural excellence, Balinese heritage and Jumeirah’s iconic hospitality.
Guests were taken on an inspiring journey through the resorts design and concept by engaging with the project’s architects and designers. Martin Grounds, director at Grounds Kent Architects Indonesia, spoke about the resort’s vision of merging Balinese architecture with modern comfort and service. Jean-Michael Gathy of Denniston International, the interior design consultancy firm, expressed the resort’s commitment to creating an exotic garden art and courtyard architecture.
The heartwarming ceremony commenced with a symbolic gesture of spreading wealth and prosperity, as a terracotta vase filled with waters and flowers was gracefully smashed during the official opening. This ritual paid homage to the historical significance of Amartha – a mythical water palace that once hosted the King’s guests with utmost sincerity and warmth.
Traditional Balinese entertainment unfolded as the night progressed, captivating the audience with live band performances and orchestral delights.
