Bali’s own neighbouring island, Lombok, will see the majestic development of a five-star destination.
After the success of The Apurva Kempinski Bali which first opened in February 2019, Kempinski Hotels once again partners up with Indonesian developer PT Teluk Agung Alami on the upcoming project The Apurva Kempinski Lombok.
The project is set on 14.3 hectares of sprawling beachfront land on a pristine bay of the island’s southwestern coast and is slated to have 200 suites and villas, starting from 65sqm. The property will also see a five-star integrated spa and wellness facility with a focus on health and healing, as well as five dining destinations highlighting Indonesia’s vibrant culinary culture.
“The southern coast of Lombok is an unspoiled paradise, a land before a time where lush hillsides and awe-inspiring bays are surrounded by some of the clearest tropical waters in Southeast Asia”, said Bernold Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer of Kempinski Group and Chairman of the Management Board of Kempinski AG. “We are thrilled to be partnering again with PT. Teluk Agung Alami to open The Apurva Kempinski Lombok, which promises to be one of the most outstanding resorts in Indonesia.”
William Katuari, owner of PT Teluk Agung Alami, commented, “We are very excited about our new project in Lombok, and together with Kempinski, we will put this island on the map for luxury travellers around the globe.”
The project is also part of a wider development that will see up to 10 hotels and resorts, an organic farm, a ranch and an equestrian centre on a 157-hectare area that sprawls across 3.6 kilometres of Mekaki Beach.
As one of the areas that the government will promote on an international scale, Lombok sees many upcoming developments in near future, including the extension of Lombok International Airport’s runway, Port Lembar upgrade to accommodate luxury yachts and cruise liners, and new international hospital development. With the recent inaugural MotoGP Indonesia at the new Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, there are many exciting things to look forward to from the island.
