The whole of Kiroro, or more accurately Kita-Shiri region, is an adventure playground suitable for all ages, including your kids. If you love unspoiled nature, then there is plenty to do here. While the winter is full of snow-based activities – including onsen, a snow park and the Ice Star Resort – the summers offer mountainside forests, unmapped waterfalls, spectacular views and the Activity Park with its park golf, bungy-trampoline, Euro-bubble ball, tennis, bicycling, fishing and more.
Riding the Mount Asari panorama gondola for a 3.3km journey over the vibrant green forest right to the top, a 1,180m elevation, is also popular for the far-reaching views across Ishikari Bay, the Shakotan Peninsula and Niseko’s mountains. If you fancy some shopping, head down to the quaint historic port town of Otaru with its famous sake distilleries, charming shops and the Otaru Canal. A shuttle bus runs between the airport, Otaru town and Kiroro, making getting around easy.
