Q: Could you share the story behind Nagisa Bali Luxury Villa Management & Marketing, and what inspired you to start this venture?
A: Nagisa Bali Group was established on 12 May 2006, marking 18 years of growth. At that time, the villa business was relatively unknown in Bali, and we saw an opportunity to introduce the concept to a new market. Initially, our primary focus was on the Japanese market, which was one of the strongest segments for Bali tourism.

Many people were unfamiliar with villas and the unique services they offered, so we focused on educating the market. We even travelled to Japan to connect with potential investors, introducing them to the concept of villa investments in Bali and showcasing our management services.

In Bali, we reached out to colleges and schools, aiming to inspire students and inform them about career opportunities in villa management. This early outreach not only helped promote the villa industry but also encouraged young talent to dream of a future in this sector.

Q: How did your journey in hospitality begin, and what motivated you to focus on luxury villa management in Bali?
A: My background is rooted in the hospitality industry, with experience in prestigious five-star hotels like The Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons. This experience gave me insight into high standards of service, which I aimed to incorporate into villa management.

We chose to focus on luxury villa services because, at that time, there were already many players in the hotel and motel sectors, but few specialised in villas. Many property owners in Bali had villas that were sitting empty and in need of reliable management to protect and maintain them.

Our business began to grow as property owners placed their trust in us. Our first client was Villa Casis, which has remained under our portfolio for almost two decades. Recognising this demand for villa management services and having a supportive team, we seized the opportunity to carve a niche in this market.

Q: Nagisa Bali is known for offering bespoke experiences. What philosophy drives your approach to villa management and marketing?
A: Our philosophy is embodied in our logo, which features colours and shapes inspired by the seashore—a homage to our name, Nagisa, which means seashore in Japanese. The logo represents our commitment to creativity, dedication and boundless service, concepts that we strive to instil in every aspect of our company.

As our team has grown, so has our logo, evolving to symbolise the diverse backgrounds of our team members. The circular, colourful design reflects our harmony in diversity, united in our mission to deliver exceptional service with a personal touch.

Q: What qualities are essential for success in the luxury hospitality industry, especially in Bali?
A: Success in luxury hospitality requires a balance of professionalism, authenticity and empathy. In this industry, we interact with people from diverse backgrounds, each bringing unique expectations and sometimes the stresses of their everyday lives.
Being genuine, listening attentively and showing humility are crucial qualities in hospitality. These traits, though simple, are challenging to instil across a team. A balanced approach is essential in creating a memorable experience for guests, especially as they seek relaxation and rejuvenation in Bali.

Q: What has been the most rewarding part of your journey with Nagisa Bali?
A: Seeing our employees’ smiles and receiving positive recommendations from clients and celebrities alike are deeply fulfilling. Spending time with family and being involved in our continuous charity initiatives are also incredibly rewarding. Our charity events, often supported by celebrities, allow us to make a positive impact on the community, bringing us joy and motivation.
