The opulent and elegant Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve offers unique activities for children unlike any other.
Among Ubud’s finest accommodations, Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, is stepping up the game a big notch with the kid-friendly activities it is offering. Designed to pique the interest and curiosity of the juniors, the resort’s kids’ club is called Mandapa Camp. Inspired by wantilan – a Balinese traditional meeting pavilion – the facade of Balinese huts looks intriguing amidst Ubud’s lush greenery. The camp comes with an organic garden, an inspiring Kid’s Hut and an educational farm – yes, with the resort’s cows, chickens, ducks, rabbits and more. The Mandapa Camp team has designed an elaborate programme fit for the little ones and also for the entire family, aptly named Mini Explorers. Designed to enrich the holiday experience for your kids, the Mini Explorers programme comes in full-day or half-day options.
A Taste of Healing Traditions is a half-day journey that focuses more on Ubud’s precious traditions. The half-day fun starts with yoga and making your own breakfast sessions, before continuing with the organic garden excursion. Here the children will learn to forage, taste and cook different kinds of vegetables and herbs. As a nice wrap-up, the little participants will get a workshop on natural plant dyes, and also learn to create jamu, Balinese-style herbal drinks.
The full-day journey goes by the name of A Day of Eco-Discovery and Culture. This one includes workshops to learn penjor (Balinese bamboo tower) making, canang (Balinese offering) making, and visiting the local temple and traditional sacred tree. The kids also get to learn about subak farming and rice planting in the resort’s field, making their own daluman (Balinese jelly drink) and then enjoy a picnic lunch at Lumbung – a traditional Balinese hut, among other activities.
