Max Tan’s enthusiasm for fashion has been obvious ever since his schooldays in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where he majored in fashion design. A year after his graduation he got the opportunity to showcase his first collection at the Singapore Fashion Week, and was even awarded the second runner-up position at the Singapore Fashion Designers Content. That stellar moment encouraged Max to start his own namesake label max.tan, which has since become known for its one-off pieces and capsule collections.
Under the label, Max likes to develop simple ideas and take them to the next level by experimenting with quirky cuts. Max maximises minimalistic ideas by tailoring and draping unexpected silhouettes and incorporating austere moods. Expect some unique shapes that juxtapose both masculine and feminine qualities. The label advocates an alternative and quiet fashion lifestyle, and it shows in the collection.
