Q: Describe your responsibilities.
A: As the director of marketing, my responsibility is to coordinate and lead various teams, including room sales, catering, conference services, public relations and marketing, and revenue management. Through effective collaboration and guidance, I ensure that each department operates seamlessly, contributing to the overarching goals of the hotel.
Q: What’s a typical day like in your line of work?
A: In my line of work, a typical day begins with morning meetings alongside my team and operational leaders, where we review upcoming events and daily tasks. Prioritising effective communication, we ensure that everyone is aligned and prepared to deliver exceptional service. By emphasising teamwork, attention to detail and a dedication to excellence, we uphold the standards that define our hotel’s reputation for hospitality and service.
Q: If you hadn’t become a director of marketing, what path would you have chosen?
A: I would have found immense fulfillment in teaching and sharing knowledge with others. I have always had a passion for guiding and mentoring individuals, helping them develop their skills and reaching their full potential. Being able to positively impact the lives of others through employment opportunities is deeply rewarding to me. Whether through education or employment, my desire to contribute to the growth and wellbeing of others remains a driving force in whatever path I choose.
Q: What goes into your consideration when planning for seasonal offers or packages?
A: When planning for seasonal offers or packages, several key considerations come into play. Firstly, together with the team I assess the current market trends and customer preferences to understand what offerings are likely to resonate with our target audience. Next, I collaborate closely with various departments to ensure that the proposed packages align with our overall business objectives and are feasible in terms of logistics and profitability. Additionally, we take into account any upcoming events or holidays that may impact demand and adjust the packages accordingly. Finally, I prioritise providing value and exceptional experiences to our guests, aiming to create packages that not only drive revenue but also leave a lasting impression and foster loyalty to our brand.
Q: Team player or team leader?
A: As both a team player and a team leader, I embody a dynamic approach to collaboration and achievement within any group setting. In my role as a team player, I prioritise cooperation, communication and mutual support. Simultaneously, as a team leader, I take charge of guiding, motivating and organising the efforts of the team. By seamlessly transitioning between these roles, I contribute to the overall success and cohesion of the team.
