The year-end rush to be the biggest Christmas and New Year holiday box office hits begins early this year and features some truly epic fantasy yarns and action movies for all the family. Here are a few of our upcoming favourites to get you into the holiday spirit.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

All Clara wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift from her late mother. But the key has disappeared into a strange and mysterious parallel world to where Clara must journey where she encounters Phillip, a gang of mice and the regents who preside over the Three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. To retrieve the key and return harmony to the unstable world, Clara, with the help of Phillip, must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger.
The Grinch lives in a cave on Mt. Crumpet with just his inventions and his dog, Max and only ever sees his neighbours in Whoville when he has no choice. One holiday season, the grump Grinch catches wind of the town’s plan to make their Christmas celebrations three times bigger, something he just can’t tolerate. But he has the ultimate solution and so to keep the peace and quiet he loves so much, he must become Santa Claus and steal Christmas. Based on the classic book by Dr. Seuss, this is bound to be a hit.
The sixth instalment of the DC Extended Universe sees Jason Momoa reprise his role from Batman vs Superman and the Justice League with his own solo feature this Christmas, Aquaman. Directed by James Wan, the plot follows Arthur Curry, a half-human, half-Atlantean, a man caught between two worlds, the son of Atlantean royalty and heir to the ocean throne, through his conflicts and battles as he is forced to reconcile his loyalties to the surface world with his role in the undersea kingdom of Atlantis all set against a backdrop of increasing hostility to man’s pollution of the oceans.
