  • The Legend of Tarzan | Release date: July 1st 2016

July is a mega month for blockbuster movie releases, kicking off with The Legend of Tarzan. Directed by David Yates, produced principally by Village Roadshow Pictures and co-written by Adam Cozad and Craig Brewer, this eagerly awaited movie takes its inspiration from the fictional character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs in his novel Tarzan of the Apes, first published in 1912. Burrough’s epic tale tells the story of a feral child raised in the African jungles by the Mangani great apes. The Legend of Tarzan is set many years later when Tarzan, played by Alexander Skarsgård, having left Africa behind, returns to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary, unaware that he is actually a pawn in a Belgian captain’s deadly plot.

  • Ghostbusters 3 | Release date: July 15th 2016

Is it really more than 30 years since Ghostbusters took the world by storm? Well in July the much beloved franchise makes its long-awaited return with a movie that sees executive producer Dan Aykroyd and director Paul Feig reshape and revitalize the classic 1984 supernatural comedy with four extremely funny women in the lead roles.

The plot sees Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) and Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), a pair of unheralded authors, write a book positing that ghosts are for real, but a few years later, after Gilbert lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia.

When ghosts invade Manhattan, Gilbert reunites with Yates, teaming up with a nuclear engineer, Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon), and a subway worker, Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones), to save the world from a mysterious evil and powerful demon known as Rowan (Neil Casey) who can exercise control over humans.

With Chris Hemsworth as Kevin – the Ghostbusters’ receptionist – and cameos by Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Sigorny Weaver and Ozzy Osbourne, the movie is being heralded as one of the years must-see flicks.

  • Pete’s Dragon   | Release date: August 12th 2016

Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford), a woodcarver, delights local children with stories of a mysterious dragon that lives deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. His daughter Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard) believes these are just fairy tales until, that is, she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley), a 10-year-old orphan who tells her he lives in the forest with a giant, friendly dragon.

With help from a young girl named Natalie (Oona Laurence), Grace sets out to investigate if this fantastic claim can be true. Based on the 1977 animated movie of the same name and the short story by Field and Miller, this could be another David Lowery and Disney classic.
