The sixth annual Marriott International Run to Give charity took place on 22 September 2019 at JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya, in collaboration with other Marriott hotels in the city, namely Pakuwon Golf Family Club, Four Points by Sheraton Surabaya, Fairfield by Marriott Surabaya and The Westin Surabaya. Marriott International’s Run to Give itself is held simultaneously each year throughout Asia Pacific and was first initiated in 2014. Run to Give 2019 is also a part of Marriott International’s Take Care movement, highlighting the brand’s core value of prioritising others.
The event brought together more than 1,200 runners from Surabaya and other cities and countries, with participation from local influencers including Margenie Winarti, Jade Hartono and Tya Mihoo, as well as Surabaya’s running communities, such as Iso-Mlayu, RIOT, DiPeksoMlayu, Kendos, Smart Run Community and Training Zone Community.
“It is delightful to see our associates passionately contributing to the community. I believe that together we can drive meaningful impact to our community,” said Regan Taikitsadaporn, Chief Human Resources Officer, Marriott International Asia Pacific. Run to Give 2019 comprised two categories, with the 5K for the public and 1K for children. The event’s profits were donated to Indonesia for Refugee, an organization aiming to provide training, educating refugee children and empowering refugees to create new opportunities.
