Siti Nuraisyah – Director of Sales & Marketing at The Dharmawangsa Jakarta

Siti Nuraisyah

Q: What are your responsibilities as the director of sales and marketing at The Dharmawangsa Jakarta?
A: As the director of sales and marketing, my main responsibility is to drive revenue and enhance brand visibility through strategic sales and marketing initiatives. I oversee the development and implementation of sales plans, ad campaigns and promotional activities to attract guests who appreciate Indonesian tradition, values, art and culture.

Q: What is a typical working day for you?
A: My typical day usually starts by checking our sales performance and studying market trends. A big part of my role is staying on top of travel trends, so I spend time analysing data and reports. But leading a great team is what keeps things exciting, we have regular meetings to brainstorm ideas and make sure everyone’s on the same page. Throughout the day, I also meet with clients, negotiate contracts and attend industry events to build partnerships.

Q: What made you decide to pursue a career in hospitality?
A: Hospitality has this amazing ability to bring cultures together. There’s something so special about welcoming guests and showing them the beauty of our traditions, from the warmth of batik to the richness of our cuisine. It’s about creating unforgettable experiences that leave a lasting impression.

Q: Are you more of a team player or a team leader?
A: I see myself as both. Of course, I value collaboration and seek input from my team members, but I also always try to provide clear direction and support to help. My job is to set the vision, inspire creativity and empower my team to excel. But all of the shared ideas and hard work are what truly make the magic happen.

Q: What do you think is the most important thing that someone in your position needs to have?
A: You need to genuinely love what you do and be excited to share it with others. But on top of that, if you already have a deep understanding of the market, then strong leadership and communication skills are key.

Q: Following the previous question, what do you think is the biggest challenge in your line of work?
A: The hospitality industry is constantly evolving. Keeping up with trends, guest expectations and the ever-changing digital landscape can be a challenge. But that’s also what keeps things fun. You have to be very adaptable, embrace new technologies and always be looking for innovative ways to attract guests.

Q: Can you share with us any exciting project or development at The Dharmawangsa Jakarta in the near future?
A: We’re currently working on Healthy in Style, our upcoming room programme designed for business men and women to personalise their dietary meal plans. This programme includes breakfast, as well as a choice of lunch or dinner, with breakfast available for takeaway during busy hours. Guests can also unwind after a long day with a complimentary Bimasena massage.
