Exclusive in September, Hotel Café Royal in London is giving you the chance to experience Downton Abbey-style life.
After a successful run of more than five years, the highly acclaimed TV series Downton Abbey is finally being featured on the silver screen. Premiering this week, the movie will once again give viewers a close look at the glamorous life of the British aristocracy in the 1920s.
To welcome this momentous moment in British television history, the famed Hotel Café Royal in London is giving you the ultimate British escape with The Royal Package. Inspired by the characters and storyline of Downton Abbey, the special package offers guests a two-night stay in one of the hotel’s historic suites and two days fully packed with activities inspired by the show. The adventure begins with a day trip escorted in a private Rolls Royce or helicopter to Highclere Castle, the estate that Downton Abbey’s Crawley family call home, for a memorable day tour, returning to the hotel to enjoy its award-winning afternoon tea with a bottle of champagne.
The next day, guests can enjoy a chauffeur-driven drive to Mayfair for a shopping spree at the London Royal Warrant. After shopping, the experience continues to St. James’ Park for a Butler’s picnic and champagne in the grounds of Marlborough House, the birthplace of King George V. In the evening, a private cocktail masterclass will teach guests how to master the art of 1920s-inspired mixology.
On the final morning, guests will enjoy a private etiquette lesson to learn how the characters in Downton Abbey would have behaved in Edwardian England. This session is filled with history lessons about early 20th century customs and culture, from making conversation to the correct handling of flatware.
