The Fullerton Hotel Singapore might not instantly spring to mind when travellers are considering luxury family breaks, but with timeless style and a glorious location backed by The Fullerton Hotel’s outstanding service and attention to detail, maybe it should.
The Fullerton Building is a magnificent neoclassical Singaporean landmark building adjacent to Marina Bay built in 1928 that through its history has been home to Singapore’s General Post Office, the Exchange Room, Exchange Reference Library and the prestigious Singapore Club. Viewed as one of most sought after locations in Singapore, the building opened as a stunning 400-room five-star luxury heritage hotel in 2001. Backed by outstanding service, unrivalled attention to detail and fabulous facilities, it has grown to be one of the city’s most popular hotels.
Like many old buildings, The Fullerton Hotel has a great deal to tell and its majestic history unfolds via static and interactive displays throughout the hotel. Families are invited to join the free heritage tours where kids can learn about the precinct’s rich and colourful past and gain exclusive access to limited areas within the hotel on the Fullerton Monument Tour. Younger kids will be enthralled by the way teddy bears are used as part of the general narrative; the giant Postmaster bear at the entrance is a firm photographic favourite and a prime example.
The rooms are large with ample space for the extra beds families require. Naturally the facilities are of the highest standard, but for families it’s the little things that matter. The signature Postmaster bear, albeit smaller, makes another appearance and the amenities include child shampoos, creams and wipes. The all-day dining at Town Restaurant and the Cake Boutique are particularly popular through the week, as is Jade’s fabulous dim sum brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Town Restaurant features an excellent daily themed buffet dinner and is also where the delicious buffet breakfast is served.
