Observing The Papilion in Kemang from the outside, one can clearly see that it’s a beautiful building with major points of artistic design. It is a structure seemingly made entirely out of neatly stacked rectangular panes of glass beautifully finished with metal pillars and an equally bright roof – a building that probably won’t be out of place if it were seen in a futuristic sci-fi movie.
Inside this beautiful building are three unique venues, each with its own distinctive design. Huize van Wely, a chic Dutch franchise brand specialising in a clean, bright and opulent look, has shades of washed white paint and clear-glass display cases that highlight the many colourful dessert selections. There’s also SHY, a casual dining venue with Japanese Kaiseki fine-dining with dishes made using only the freshest seasonal ingredients amidst a warm and intimate atmosphere.
Lastly, SHY Rooftop is an Indonesian, Japanese and Western bar and restaurant that sits at the top of the building and offers a very romantic venue with candlelight, sofas and a bar. The tented establishment is decorated with white washed wooden floor and well-placed candlelit lanterns to allow a great night life experience or private events.
