From 15th to 20th September, The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Place held a festive Mexican dinner and brunch buffet in collaboration with the Embassy of Mexico in Indonesia to celebrate Mexican Independence Day, which falls on 16th September. Guests who enjoyed the festivities included dignitaries from various embassies as well as members of the press.
A highlight of the celebration was the Modern Mexican Dinner, an exquisite five-course delight masterminded by guest chef Julio Ortega, a rising star in Mexico’s culinary circles. For the first course, guests were treated to the chef’s artistic twist of traditional Mexican street food. Corn in four textures featured golden kernels that were served grilled as foam, sauce and popped, paired with an intoxicating blueberry agave cocktail with tequila base. Next up was a Mexican-style ceviche that highlighted cured fish, roasted chilli ashes and smoked mayonnaise, paired with Rocca delle Macie Orvietto Classico Umbria. The mains included stuffed poblano chilli and chicken tamale, matched beautifully with Ona Anakena Viogner Riesling Chardonnay Leyda and Sasyr Rocca delle Macie Sangiovese Syrah Rosso Toscana IGT. The meal concluded with the chef’s decadent blue corn and cinnamon ice cream, paired with straight Corralejo tequila.
