Q: How would you describe your responsibilities in under 10 words?
A: Leading sales and marketing to achieve revenue goals through strategic planning.
Q: What makes a typical day?
A: My day starts with a fresh cup of coffee to kick things off. I meet with the team for a quick briefing to review daily plans, leads and any issues that need attention. Then, I dive into performance analysis and join the general manager and other department heads for updates. The rest of my day consists of client meetings, admin tasks and cross-department collaboration.
Q: What’s the toughest part of your job?
A: The biggest challenge in my role is coordinating the team to bring guests’ visions to life, whether it’s ensuring a successful event or providing a smooth experience. It tests our creativity and can be tiring, but seeing happy and satisfied guests always makes it worthwhile.
Q: What do you find most satisfying in your job?
A: The most rewarding aspect of my job is achieving our financial targets while keeping clients happy and satisfied.
Q: Team player or team leader?
A: I enjoy being part of a team, but I find greater fulfilment in leading, making decisions and guiding the team toward our goals. However, I also value open communication and feedback, as they often lead to innovative solutions and improved results.
Q: What is the most valuable lesson you learned working as a hotelier?
A: The most valuable lesson I have learned as a hotelier is the importance of clear communication and effective time management. It’s not always easy to differentiate between what is essential and what is urgent. But staying focused and using tools like the Eisenhower Matrix allow you to maximise output, along with minimising stress, which eventually leads to better outcomes and a more balanced workplace for everyone.
